- Perform the duties prescribed in the bylaws as follows:
- To study and recommend policies with regard to student activities in those areas within
the jurisdiction of the Academic Senate.
- To review the valedictorian selection process, and select the valedictorian.
- To review the Who’s Who and NCC Student Activities Awards selection process and select
the awards recipients.
- To review applications and submit nominations for the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for
Student Excellence to the President’s Office for endorsement and relaying to SUNY
System.
- To review and determine eligibility of student waiver applications as per the Student
Leadership policy.
- To work with the administration in matters and procedures pertaining to the annual
Commencement ceremony.
- *Update the committee’s Procedure Manual. Provide both a hard copy and an electronic
copy to be housed in the Academic Senate Office.
- *Promote and support Evening Activity hours, including but not limited to encouraging
faculty and departmental participation.
- *Promote the understanding and development of Service Learning.
- #Submit highlights of student successes to appropriate Nassau Community College administrative
officers, including Alicia Steger, in order to assist in the college's marketing and
publicity efforts.
