Academic Standing

 

Duties

  1. To recommend to the Academic Senate, academic standards which define good standing, probation, and separation from the College, and to recommend for probation or separation from the College, students who are not in good standing.
  2. To act as a board of review in academic cases where special circumstances warrant.
  3. To recommend policies by which dismissed students may be readmitted to the College.
  4. To advise and make recommendations to the Senate on problems relating to the grading system and to the total number of credit hours and cumulative grade point average required for graduation.

Membership

Standing Representation:

Vice President for Academic Affairs or designee
Vice President for Academic/Students Services or designee
Registrar or designee

Other Representation:

  • One representative and alternate for each academic department elected by that department.
  • Students are to be appointed by the Student Government Association (SGA) and they shall compose 10% of the total membership.
  • Non-voting Members (Bylaws revision passed Academic Senate April 29, 2010)
  • A representative from the Academic Advisement Center, appointed by the Direcotr of Acadmeic Advisement.
  • A representative from the Center for Educational and Retention Counseling will be appointed by the Chairperson of Student Personnel Services, if the elected representative from Student Personnel Services is not an educational counselor.
