ACADEMIC STANDING COMMITTEE 2018-2019

  1. Perform the duties prescribed in the bylaws as follows:
    1. To recommend to the Academic Senate, academic standards which define good standing, probation, and separation from the College.
    2. To act as a board of review of policy on academic cases where special circumstances warrant and to make recommendations for modifying or adopting new policy to address such special cases.
    3. To recommend policies by which dismissed students may be readmitted to the College.
    4. To advise and make recommendations to the Senate on problems relating to the grading system and to the total number of credit hours and cumulative grade point average required for graduation.
  2. *Continue to track the academic progress of students on Academic warning and academic probation.
  3. *Continue to track the academic progress of reinstated students.
  4. *Review and update the Academic Standing Committee Procedure Manual and forms.
  5. *Review and work with the Administration to revise the academic dismissal appeal process.
  6. #Investigate college policy for grade assigned to students who do not complete remedial courses because they have been expelled or suspended for violations of the Student Code of Conduct. Work with the Dean of Students and Registrar to clarify whether the college policy is being implemented. Report to the Academic Senate on any discrepancies between the College Policy and its implementation.
