- 1. Perform the duties prescribed in the bylaws as follows:
- To sponsor activities which encourage professional growth and foster literacy and
the integration of technology for teaching/learning and academic administrative functions.
- To develop and offer professional seminars, workshops and study groups for the faculty.
- To work with the academic departments, offices and administration to provide a supportive
network for new faculty.
- To disseminate information pertaining to professional growth activities and the development
of literacy and technology across the disciplines.
- *Sponsor the Fall Roundtable on November 29, 2018.
- *Sponsor the Spring Roundtable on March 14, 2019.
- *Sponsor Faculty Development Day on March 29, 2019.
- *Sponsor the New Faculty Engagement Forum on November 27, 2018.
- *Maintain the endeavors of the Presentation Proposal Resource Subcommittee.
Encourage every Academic Senate Committee and Academic Department to submit proposals
for faculty development events, and assist any interested committee or department
in developing such events.
- *Support the development of any other college-wide faculty development endeavors,
upon request.
- *Continue to advance the FDC listserv.
- *Continue to develop and maintain an FDC website/CASTLE website for general access,
showcasing FDC endeavors and events, and disseminating professional development opportunities
and information, in collaboration with the Administration and the Library. Explore
ways of communicating the results of faculty scholarship and creative activity (i.e.
sabbatical projects, etc.) to the entire faculty and other interested parties.
- *Continue to support the development of Nassau Community College's Center for Academic
Scholarship for Teaching and Learning Excellence. (CASTLE)
- *Post on the NCC Portal the results of the NCC support for Professional Development
Activities Survey. Finalize the Professional Development Activities recommendations
and present these recommendations to the Academic Senate Committee.
- *#Work in collaboration with the Assessment Committee to organize a Faculty Development
roundtable that would enhance faculty members' understanding and familiarity with
the assessment process.
