CHANCELLOR’S AWARDS 2018-2019

  1. Perform the duties prescribed in the bylaws as follows:
    1. To solicit nominations from the faculty, administration, staff, and students through college-wide mailings, ads, and articles in the College newspaper for the SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for excellence in the categories of Full-time Teaching, Adjunct Teaching, Li¬brarianship, Professional Service, Faculty Service and Scholarship and Creative Activities.
    2. To assign a mentor who is a former recipient of the Chancellor’s Award and not a member of the Committee to assist candidates in completing and submitting a dossier to the committee for review that is to include the candidate’s philosophy of education, summary of teaching methods, evidence of scholarship and professional growth, summary of student activities, statement on academic standards, requirements, and evaluation procedures for student performance.
    3. To assist each nominee in writing the five-page summary report required for SUNY Chancellor’s Award.
    4. To assure adherence to the “Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence Policies and Procedures Manual,” including assurance of avoidance of conflict of interest and to verify that all proper documentation and supporting letters of recommenda¬tion are in order.
    5. To forward the completed dossiers to the President’s Office for submission, with the President’s endorsement, to the Chancellor’s Office in Albany.
  2. Present an updated version of the Committee’s Procedure Manual in electronic form to be housed in the Academic Senate Office.
  3. Work with the Office of External Marketing and Communication to expand internal and external marketing initiatives to publicize the recipients of the Chancellor’s Awards on campus and in the community.
  4. Recommend ways to streamline the nomination and application process to increase participation.
