HONORS COMMITTEE 2018-2019

  1. Perform the duties prescribed in the bylaws as follows:
    1. To recommend to the Vice President for Academic Affairs all standards, curriculum and criteria for the Honors Program including:
      1. Admission
      2. Retention in the program
      3. Waiver requests
      4. Design of the program
    2. To review and recommend new courses to be sponsored in the program to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
    3. To periodically review the goals of the program.
    4. To review all recommendations for change in the Honors Program with the Academic Department Chairs, Academic Deans and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
  2. *Promote the Honors Program to NCC faculty, students, and the community at large.
  3. *Create a Procedure Manual for the Honors Committee.
  4. *Work with the NCC Foundation and the Honors office in their efforts to negotiate scholarships for incoming Honors students and for Honors students who transfer to four-year institutions.
  5. #Review, discuss and implement the 2018 Evaluation from the National Collegiate Honors Council. If possible, present a resolution to the Academic Senate by December 2018. (NCHC).
  6. #Continue to work with the Registrar and OIESP to investigate colleges to which our honors students transfer. Continue to track students’ transfer institutions with the goal of using this information to highlight the success of NCC honors students. Report in writing to the Academic Senate.
  7. *Work with middle schools and high schools for better recruitment potential. Liaise with the Office of External Marketing and Communication to achieve this objective.
