SUBSTANCE AWARENESS COMMITTEE 2018-2019

  1. Perform the duties prescribed in the bylaws as follows:
    1. To educate the campus community on preventative measures regarding the use and abuse of alcohol and other substances.
    2. To conduct presentations, workshops and the annual Awareness Program.
    3. To review and advise on College policy and procedures pertaining to a drug-free campus.
    4. To develop student-oriented programs for preventive outreach.
  2. *Hold Substance Awareness Day.
  3. *Promote nicotine cessation programs including the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout. Consider adding wording to include vaping and chewing tobacco.
  4. *Enlist the support of academic departments in developing classroom-based substance awareness projects to actively involve students in educational and preventative efforts.
  5. *Explore appropriate College and community resources in order to evaluate the prevention needs of the NCC community.
  6. Continue to explore ways to educate the college community about the potential health effects of
    substances in consumer products.
  7. #Explore ways to educate the college community about the tobacco and smoke free campus policy.
  8. #Collaborate with the WPHC, student organizations and faculty to create a Substance Awareness Campaign.
